We harness nature’s own process, photosynthesis, through super-compact and modular photobioreactors systems fitted into standard shipping containers. By utilizing state-of-the-art LEDs powered by renewable electricity, and industrial CO2 as the feedstock, we optimize the production of microalgae biomass beyond the current industrial benchmark. The photobioreactors are mobile and can be directly deployed at the CO2 point of emission, as a closed system independent of local environmental requirements.

Our system is suitable for any type of photosynthetic microalgae (autotrophic), and we use natural mutagenesis as well as gene editing to select for the most optimal microalgae species dependent on customer needs and end-product applications.

Our Business model
Algiecel creates value by selling high-value ingredients on long-term contracts to our B2B customers. We produce ingredients via a distributed network of photobioreactor production lines at project specific CO2 supply sites that are owned and operated by Algiecel. We deliver a turnkey solution to small and mid-sized CO2 emitters such as biogas plants, sourcing CO2 from them on a long-term contract at an agreed price per ton. From construction to operation and maintenance, we handle every aspect of the project development. Collaboration with local industries and municipalities fosters community engagement and accelerates the green transition.
